I'm Back

Hi, I'm back. And I notice much less visits now that I seldom update my blog. Another thing I noticed is that people prefer to see photos rather than to read. After all, a picture says a thousand words. So, I'll dig out some old photos and recall the few times we were abroad. Take a look at the photos above. Guess where we went. France ? I'm sure you can recognise the Stonehenge. But did you notice that we're wearing the same clothes? Hopping from Paris to England in a day? Possible, but we were actually "all over the world" in half a day. These photos are taken during a visit to "Window of the World" in Shenzhen, China.

From the photos you can see that this place is worth a visit. Even though it's all fake, it gives a chance to see the places up close. After all, I don't think we can afford to visit all these places. With budget flights direct from KL to Shenzhen, this trip is definitely cheap and worthwhile. We don't have to follow tours, it would be more enjoyable to just move around Shenzhen on your own.

Keeping In Touch

How time flies! It's already a month since my last post. There have been quite a few visits to my blog since I took a break. For those of you who want to see some photos, I'm afraid there won't be any this time. Ok, so what have I been doing this past month?
Besides the usual work, chores and some exercise, the most eventful thing that happened during this past month would be the 12th General Election. The results have been shocking, unbeleivable but not totally unexpected judging from the emails, sms's and vocal opinion we've been hearing prior to polling date. This Election was also a memorable one for me. Instead of just casting my vote s I usually do, this time I played quite an important role - ensuring a fair and transparent voting process (at least on my part I'm satisfied that the polling in my station was conducted fairly, transparent)
I was appointed as a presiding officer for one of the polling stations. The election process is fair and transparent, at least at our level. I don't know about other levels, but the results show that it has been fair. Earlier allegations of rigging are really uncalled for. Ok, enough of this boring stuff. More updates some other time.

Meet Casey

So this is Casey.

Some of my friends ask me what is nice about Gold Coast. Is it worth a visit? Well, it all depends on what you are looking for in a holiday. If you're looking for sceneries: mountains, streams, lush green forests, you may find it in Queensland but I didn't include those in my itinerary. My visit was more focussed on the fun aspect: theme-parks, beach, shopping and all. We had all that. The theme-parks in Gold Coast are very nice and enjoyable. If theme-parks are not your cup of tea then it's just too bad. The waves at the beach are simply awesome. Even though we had no time to learn surfing, just playing in those waves was something we couldn't find in Malaysia. These are some of my favourite pictures of the Gold Coast beach.

There are several theme-parks in Gold Coast. We only visited the Dreamworld (so many worlds in one) and the Warner Brothers Movieworld. If you want to visit only two, then go for these two. The Dreamworld is a must go - it has awesome rides, wild-life, farm tours, indoor surfingand also much more for the kids. Movieworld is interesting with all the movie characters- the Shrek 4D show, Scooby doo roller coaster and all

Who is Casey?

Wondering who is Casey? Why the name Casey? Simple - Casey = K.C.

I came across the name Casey through the show Ben Casey-a medical drama series which ran on ABC from 1961 to 1966. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Casey). In my place of work, I'm identified by the initials KC and some colleagues do call me that so when I needed a name for my blog- the name Casey's Space came to my mind.

Casey is actually an Irish surname but Casey is also used as a first name, by both males and females.

Me- blogger?

The first time I came across the four letter word BLOG, I didn't know what it was. Later I found out that it was a means for people to share their thoughts with others on the internet. The idea didn't really appeal to me at all. I don't think I know how to blog (I still don't). Then why am I blogging here?

So far there have been 267 visits to this blog, some of these our own, some our friends and relatives, but I suppose quite a few from others.For those of you who happened to arrive here uninvited and are wondering what sort of blog this is, let me explain.This blog started in a quite ridiculous way! We wanted to buy Denise a pair of sports shoes. Since we thought it was cheaper in Malaysia, we looked around and shortlisted a few for her to choose. Her hostel internet connection is quite bad and she cannot receive these picture files so Daphne came up with the idea of creating a blog where we can post some pictures for her to see, (and rank in order of preference) After being introduced to blogging, I decided to post more pictures to the blog. Later I put the address in Denise's blog for her friends to visit, and also told Derick about the blog.

So actually, I'm not really a habitual blogger! And definitely not a creative one either. Those recipes are for Daphne- in case she runs out of ideas for preparing her meals-:) The Australian trip has burnt a big hole in the pocket so I guess there won't be new photos for new trips so soon. Maybe I'll dig some old pictures to refresh our memory of our previous trips. This one here is from our HK trip in 2006.

Brisbane here we come

On the fifth day we left for Brisbane by train. Took a taxi to the apartment then walked around the area. There is a takeaway and convenience store( Chai's) nearby owned by Malaysians. No problem getting Malaysian food and ingredients for cooking. However the apartment is up on a hilly road. Walking back is ......whew! The University of Queensland campus is quite nice. After having lunch (Chai's takeaway) we went exploring Chinatown in Brisbane. The next day we visited Brisbane's city sights, took a ride on the river ferry (City Cat) and strolled the famous South Bank where the Friday night Lifestyle markets are held. The South Bank is the place for Brisbane city dwellers to relax. There are parks, food, cinemas and even a lagoon for them to swim, complete with sand and beach!
